Emmanuel Okoro is Professor/ Consultant in Medicine specializing in Pharmacology of Hypertension/Type2 diabetes. He was External Assessor to Nigeria’s Medicines Regulatory Agency (NAFDAC); establishing its Regional Pharmacovigilance Centre at Unilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH). As foundation Nodal Officer (2004-2009) won the best project grant from UK Government to Nigeria showing Quality improvement expands public hospital revenue; leaving legacy structures including a One-Stop Antenatal Service and Customer Care Desk/Office/Unit still in public use decades after. He established a UITH World Class Diabetes Service; pioneered anti-hypertensive therapy with thiazides in Diabetes nation-wide and recently showed non-targeted COVID-19 vaccination was wastefully locally. Professor Okoro teaches Internal Medicine, Hypertension, Patient Safety, etc; oneditorial board of International Journal of Risk & Drug Safety; Head, Medicine Department (2006-2009), appointed (2023) into UITH Board and with Engr. Soky Amachree wrote a dissent on Niger Delta Development (host community equity participation) now in Petroleum Industry Act 2023.
