Biography

Kolawole Wasiu Wahab, MBBS, MPH, MSc, MD, FMCP, FANA, FAAN

Kolawole Wahab is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and has a background in Internal Medicine, Clinical Neurology, and Public Health, with further training in the United Kingdom on Commonwealth Scholarship. The overarching goal of his research is the reduction of stroke burden in sub-Saharan Africa, and leads major clinical trials in Africa, including INTERACT3 and TRIDENT, in collaboration with The George Institute for Global Health, Australia. He is also the Site Principal Investigator in other research works on stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia in Africa. He is a recipient of the American Academy of Neurology Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Award (2014), UNILORIN Best Researcher of the Year (2016), and World Heart Federation Emerging Leaders Award (2018). He is the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Hypertension Society and is a member of the Guidelines Writing Committee of the World Stroke Organization.
